ARTRIGHT is a project established to promote professional practice and business acumen in the South African visual arts community.

About Us

ARTRIGHT is a joint project established to promote professional practice in the visual arts community. The content is practical and up to date.

  • The aim of the project is to:
  •      help formalise professional practices
  •      help grow the arts community by providing accurate business, legal and educational
  •      advice and documents free of charge.

Let's grow the industry by promoting sound business ethics to help the community pursue and develop professional careers in the arts.

The project works on a phased development that depends on monetary donations and contributions in time, skill, knowledge and resources. The initial phase of ARTRIGHT is to create a web-based support structure for visual artists.

The website will host a set of standardised contractual documents, business administration tools and professional practice information which is designed specifically for the visual arts community. As the project receives funding ARTRIGHT will create educational tutorials, publish the information in a printed guide and try to maximise access of the information and advice to the visual arts community.

ARTRIGHT is a joint initiative in the field of visual arts and has been developed by Brendan Copestake, The WITS School of Arts and VANSA.
